Counselling for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that creates intense, disturbing thoughts and feelings that linger on even after the traumatic event has ended. It could be a reaction to severe mental or emotional distress, such as violent assault, natural disaster, life-threatening events, bullying, military combat and more.

Those with PTSD may experience anxiety, depression, and flashbacks. It could also present as hypervigilance. There may be feelings of sadness, fear or anger.

PTSD can be incredibly isolating, and knowing where to turn for help is hard.

It's normal to feel scared or ashamed after being traumatized, but you don't have to suffer in silence.

You may experience and relive the event of the trauma through:

  • Being easily startled or frightened

  • Nightmares, flashbacks, or both

  • Panic attacks

  • Hypervigilance - always on guard

  • Engaging in self-destructive behavior

  • Having sleep issues

  • Having trouble concentrating

  • Getting easily irritated, having frequent outbursts of anger or aggression

  • Feeling overwhelming shame or guilt

Therapy will help you understand and manage your symptoms and cope with the trauma you have experienced.

You can meet me in person in Bangkok, Thailand, or schedule an online appointment for my therapy services at Three Point Counselling.

It is as though the spatial act of seeing were changed by a new dimension”
